Alexandria, VA – Forget the crowded malls and endless online shopping. For 64 years, Mount Vernon Unitarian Church has offered Alexandria families a more personal way to kick off the holiday season.

On Saturday, November 21, the church’s annual Holiday Shop returns to its picturesque eight-acre property atop Mason Hill, bringing together more than 50 artisans and vendors, homemade goodies, collectible treasures, and plenty of holiday cheer.

“It is a one-stop shopping event for goodies at Thanksgiving and for special seasonal gifts,” says church volunteer Jan Speakman.

Inside historic Hollin Hall Mansion, the country kitchen will be stocked with homemade baked goods, relishes, sauces, and apple cakes. Betty’s Boutique offers a treasure hunt through collectible dinnerware, crystal, silver, and household items. And don’t overlook the jewelry!

Across the property, the Meeting House will host approximately 50 vendors offering handcrafted gifts, artwork, and creations made from natural and recycled materials. Local artisans will be joined by vendors representing craftspeople from around the world.

Shoppers can also enjoy lunch and snacks on the back patio.

And then there’s the quilt.

One of the Holiday Shop’s most popular traditions is its annual quilt raffle. This year’s creation, titled Blue Ridge, brings a touch of Virginia’s forested mountains to the festivities.

Speakman calls it “another stunner,” adding that “it gives off forestry vibes.”

Raffle tickets are just $3, giving one lucky shopper a chance to take home the handmade creation.

“We really hope to see you soon,” Speakman says.
