“Lives Bound Together: Slavery at George Washington’s Mount Vernon”

In this moving exhibit, learn the stories of some of the people enslaved by Washington. See artifacts from the time period. Hear how Washington’s views about slavery changed during his later years, inspiring him to include a provision in his will that freed the slaves who lived and worked at Mount Vernon upon his death.
