Alexandria Ramps Up ‘Stop the Spread’ Campaign
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The City of Alexandria and neighboring counties are taking steps to make sure that the message of maintaining good health during the pandemic reaches all Northern Virginia residents.
Videos and other materials are in production in multiple languages to help stop the spread of coronavirus. There are videos available now, but the city wants to expand its efforts.
Almost 60 percent of cases in Northern Virginia are found in Hispanic or Latinx communities. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, just a year ago, Hispanics accounted for 9.8 percent of Virginia’s population.
The Alexandria Health Department (AHD), in recent months, has held testing events in heavily affected areas, focused on helping those most in need.
“Sea un Héroe” is a Spanish language video produced by the Northern Virginia Regional Commission. It explains how to stop the spread and protect family members and others.“Six Steps to Stop the Spread” is a collection of videos made by AHD in English, Spanish, Amharic, and Arabic. A short video, “What If I Need Help?”, gives tips on how to find assistance during this time.
