Ann Kavaljian, Alexandria Community Leader, Dies at 86
The Devoted Supporter of Civic, Social, and Faith-Based Organizations, Passed on September 1

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Mrs. Ann Kavaljian was an active participant in the Alexandria Lawyer’s Wives and a longtime member of the Old Dominion Boat Club, where she cherished friendships and community ties. She was also a steadfast presence at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Old Town, where she was regarded as a pillar of the congregation.
Known for her warmth, commitment, and gracious spirit, Ann dedicated her life to her family, faith, and community.
Ann Kavaljian’s husband of 28 years, Dikran V. Kavaljian Jr., a lifelong Alexandrian, passed away on September 19, 1996, at age 69 from cancer at Inova Alexandria Hospital. A practicing attorney in the city for 43 years, he served as president of the Alexandria Bar Association and was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the Alexandria Optimists Club, and the Old Dominion Boat Club.
Ann’s husband was a graduate of George Washington High School in 1945, he enlisted in the Marine Corps before earning degrees from the College of William and Mary and its law school.
Ann Kavaljian is survived by three sons: Stephen V. Kavaljian of Arlington, and Peter D. Kavaljian and Dikran V. Kavaljian III (Allyson Pollock Kavaljian) and their daughter Katerina.
