ALEXANDRIA, VA – So many have been affected by the pandemic, directly and indirectly. If you are a parent or caregiver worried about what happens if you become sick with coronavirus, the Alexandria Health Department has shared guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The first recommendation is to practice everyday preventative measures like having everyone in the household wash their hands frequently. The second is avoiding close contact both inside and outside the home. This means maintaining a six foot barrier between you and others. It is crucial to cover your face, and if you have to cough or sneeze use a tissue.

It is advised that only children who are mature and old enough to care for themselves should sty in the home when the sick parent leaves. Young children should stay with someone not at high risk for virus complications, as the child has likely been exposed to the illness.
