Alexandria VA – A familiar name in Old Town Alexandria is serving up a new chapter with the return of Sunday Supper and the addition of a leisurely weekend brunch at The Majestic, 911 King St. Led by Chef Santiago Lopez, the restaurant’s 2026 relaunch pairs its Art Deco history with a refreshed New American menu that draws inspiration from a range of global flavors. The result is a dining experience that mixes familiar comfort food with seasonal ingredients, bright herbs and coastal influences.

A New Chapter for an Old Town Landmark

The Majestic first opened in 1932 and has evolved from a neighborhood diner into one of Old Town’s recognizable Art Deco landmarks. Over the decades, the restaurant has experienced changes in ownership as well as openings and closures. The 2026 relaunch under Chef Santiago Lopez gives the longtime King Street destination another opportunity to serve the Alexandria community while maintaining its connection to the neighborhood. Two of the restaurant’s newest offerings—Sunday Supper and Weekend Brunch—lean into that sense of gathering around the table.

Sunday Supper Brings Back the Family Table

Sunday Supper is served from 5 to 9 p.m. Sundays and is designed to give diners a customizable, multi-course meal with plenty to share.

The meal begins with Gruyère-chive biscuits and cultured butter, a deceptively simple opening that sets the tone for what follows. Guests then select a seasonal soup or salad. Among the salad options is a roasted beet salad featuring red and yellow beets, Waldorf dressing, apple-celery relish, spiced walnuts, herbs and harissa vinaigrette. A classic Caesar offers RomaCrunch lettuce, toasted croutons, garlic-anchovy dressing and plenty of grated Pecorino Romano. Seasonal soups round out the first course, with preparations changing according to the produce available.

Fried Chicken Takes Center Stage

The centerpiece of Sunday Supper is Chef Santi’s Majestic Brined Fried Chicken, served family-style with smoked Gouda mashed potatoes, charred broccolini, house pickles and coleslaw. The meal also comes with several sauces, allowing diners to customize each bite. Options include salsa verde, Nashville hot sauce, gochujang-soy glaze and house gravy. The combination brings together crisp fried chicken, creamy mashed potatoes and fresh vegetable sides for a meal that is decidedly comfort-driven while still reflecting the chef’s global approach. And for anyone who manages to save room, dessert offers another difficult choice.

Save Room for Dessert

Sunday Supper’s dessert choices include dark chocolate mousse with red wine-braised cherries and an espresso lace garnish or mango panna cotta with macadamia crumble and fresh mango. Both provide a sweet finish to a meal built around generous portions and shared-table dining. Take-home containers may come in handy for diners who find the meal—and dessert—too tempting to leave behind.

Weekend Brunch Adds Bubbles to the Mix

The Majestic’s Weekend Brunch is served Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., giving Alexandria diners another reason to linger over a weekend meal. With bubbles, shareable starters, substantial entrees and dessert included in the experience, the brunch is designed for the kind of unhurried weekend gathering that can stretch well into the afternoon. The brunch experience starts with a choice of wine, bubbly or one of the bar team’s specialty mimosas. A shareable brunch basket follows with several house-made treats.

Among them are Monkey Bread with dulce de leche and candied pecans, Majestic Jelly Doughnuts with mango meringue and coconut jam, and the restaurant’s signature Gruyère-chive biscuits with cultured butter. The entree selection spans both sweet and savory choices. Guests can choose from Meyer lemon pancakes with berry compote and mascarpone Chantilly cream, a spinach and mushroom omelet, braised brisket hash, smoked salmon Benedict, steak and eggs or the signature Majestic Burger.

Dessert brings diners back to the same two selections offered during Sunday Supper: dark chocolate mousse with red wine-braised cherries or mango panna cotta with macadamia crumble and fresh mango.

A Familiar Favorite With a Fresh Point of View

For longtime Alexandria diners, the return of Sunday Supper provides a connection to the restaurant’s neighborhood roots. The Weekend Brunch, meanwhile, gives The Majestic another way to introduce its updated culinary direction to a new generation of Old Town diners.

Chef Santiago Lopez’s menu balances recognizable dishes with unexpected sauces, seasonal ingredients and international influences—an approach that allows The Majestic to honor its past without being defined by it.
