The monks are walking from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington, D.C., stopping in cities along the way to share teachings focused on peace and mindfulness. Their Alexandria visit will include a midday peace talk at Christ Church, located at 118 N. Washington Street.

The group is expected to enter Alexandria around 9 a.m., traveling north along South Washington Street and the George Washington Parkway, before arriving at Christ Church. After a brief rest and lunch, the monks are expected to address attendees at approximately 12 p.m. Their remarks will last about 45 minutes to one hour, and members of the public are welcome to gather outside the church to listen.

To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, rolling road closures will be in place along portions of the route throughout the morning and early afternoon. In addition, Cameron Street (between Washington and Alfred streets) and Columbus Street (between King and Queen streets) will be closed from approximately 6:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support the peace talk.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and consider alternate routes during the event window. Police and event coordinators will be on site to manage traffic and pedestrian flow.

The Walk for Peace offers Alexandria a meaningful moment of quiet reflection and connection, highlighting the city’s role as a welcoming stop on a journey devoted to peace, compassion, and understanding.
