NACWA Awards Senator Murkowski with National Environmental Achievement Award for Federal Public Service

Karen Pallansch, Chief Executive Officer of Alexandria Renew Enterprises and Vice President of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), presented Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) with NACWA’s 2013 National Environmental Achievement Award (NEAA) for Federal Public Service on July 18th.  This award, given annually, recognizes public officials that have made outstanding contributions to the nation’s water quality goals.

Senator Murkowski was recognized for her steadfast support for federal investments in community water and wastewater systems.  As Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees the budget for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Senator has remained committed to funding the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds, a critical tool used to repair and replace aging water and wastewater infrastructure.  In an era of budget cuts, Senator Murkowski has worked on a bipartisan basis to ensure federal investment in clean water remains an important component of EPA’s mission.
