OAK Steakhouse Wants to Open in North Old Town Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA–When the new building is complete at the north end of St. Asaph Street at First Street, there might be a new swanky steakhouse serving dry-aged beef and truffle fries.

In papers filed with the City of Alexandria, Oak Alexandria (DBA Oak Steakhouse) is requesting permission to occupy the space at 530 First Street and 901 North Saint Asaph Streets. See actual application.

Oak Steakhouse, based in Atlanta, with stores in Charlotte, Nashville and Charleston, is a classic steakhouse serving small plates too.  We checked a sample menu from their Nashville location and liked the choices–diners can choose various toppings for steaks from sauteed mushrooms to foie gras, accompanied by any of ten different sauces, for example. Fresh fish is offered daily, along with lolbster and according to Yelp, favorites include their ricotta donuts and mac and cheese.

Oak’s wine list highlights California Cabernet and Old World reds including a selection of Italian and Spanish wines, as well as a selection of artisan domestic wines. The cocktail program pays tribute to classic cocktail recipes, while enhancing the flavors with creative, modern ingredients. Oak offers a curated selections of beers, available on tap and in bottles, from local breweries.
