Alexandria, VA – Agenda Alexandria’s 2021-2022 chair, Ricardo Alfaro, is proud to announce the return of in-person programming this fall. Agenda Alexandria will resume looking at the issues without taking sides with in-person programs this fall scheduled at the Lyceum and the George Washington Masonic Memorial Theater.

“We’ve been working hard over the last few months toward resuming our in-person programs after carrying out programming virtually for nearly a year and a half,” said Alfaro. “Our format will be a bit different from how meetings used to look before the COVID-19 pandemic, but we will continue providing timely discussions on issues affecting our community.”

Agenda’s first in-person program will take place at The Lyceum and tackle going Back to School: Learning in the new “normal.”

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted every aspect of our society, but the impact on schools is particularly stark. The pressure to return to normal is high, but what will the new normal look like? Alexandria schools are navigating new opportunities and challenges from SROs to equity in schools, classroom crowding to social distancing. As the school year begins, Agenda Alexandria will explore topics such as

· “What do we need to do to Open ACPS?”

· “How will we keep students safe while also giving them a rich education?”

· “How can we support both students and teachers as we make up for 16 months of learning loss?” and

· “What is the current relationship between the City and ACPS?”

The discussion will be joined by Sindy Carballo Garcia from Tenants and Workers and Dr. Terri Mozingo from ACPS. Check AgendaAlexandria.org for additional speakers. The program will be moderated by former Alexandria City School Board member and community activist Christopher Lewis.

Please join us on Monday, September 27 at 6:30 pm at The Lyceum as we return for a new year of Agenda: Alexandria programming!
