Ben Brenman Park Maintenance Work Underway

ALEXANDRIA, VA–Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) staff has begun a range of seasonal and other maintenance work in Ben Brenman Park located at 4800 Brenman Park Drive in Alexandria, VA. RPCA staff expects this work to continue for three to four weeks. This work will include tree maintenance and general maintenance throughout the park site.

Tree maintenance work will include the raising of tree limbs around trails and roadways, removing dead trees and other tree related maintenance issues. Removed dead trees will be replaced during fall of 2018.  Notifications of tree work near roadways that will utilize parking spaces, specifically along Somerville Street, will be placed several days prior to the work occurring.

Maintenance work scheduled in the park includes trimming of vegetation around the pond, service of the aeration bubblers and fountains in the storm retention ponds, repairs of signs, clearing vegetation around the chain link fence on Duke Street, repairing park furniture and work on the hard-surface courts and athletic fields. In addition, staff is also preparing for future maintenance work, including repairs to the restrooms, and cleaning and painting at the gazebo.

RPCA staff appreciates the patience of the park users while crews are working in the park with equipment and as debris is cleared.  For safety, all park users are advised to please stay clear of crews while they are working with equipment.
