The Chamber ALX has announced its 2026 “40 Under 40” honorees, recognizing 40 professionals age 40 and younger who are helping shape the future of Alexandria through leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and community impact.

Established in 2016, the annual program honors emerging leaders working across business, technology, nonprofit management, public service, education, health care, and the arts. According to Chamber ALX, honorees are selected based on professional accomplishments, scholastic achievement, community involvement, and personal story.

Over the past decade, the recognition has become one of Alexandria’s most visible professional honors for rising leaders. Past recipients have included entrepreneurs, nonprofit executives, city employees, educators, physicians, restaurateurs, bankers, marketing professionals, and public safety officers — many of whom have gone on to larger leadership roles throughout the region.

“The purpose is to highlight individuals making a meaningful impact across a range of industries,” the Chamber notes in its Young Leaders Network materials, adding that the program seeks to empower “rising stars” who will help strengthen Alexandria’s business community and quality of life.

This year’s class reflects the broad range of talent helping drive Alexandria forward, from wellness professionals and architects to nonprofit advocates, real estate leaders, therapists, financial experts, and public servants.

Several honorees are connected to organizations deeply woven into Alexandria’s civic fabric, including AlexRenew, Campagna Center, Goodwin Living, Housing Alexandria, The Center for Alexandria’s Children, and the City of Alexandria.

Others represent Alexandria’s growing entrepreneurial and creative economy, including fitness, design, wellness, landscaping, and hospitality-related businesses.

The honorees will be celebrated at the Chamber ALX 40 Under 40 Awards celebration on July 16. You can click here for tickets. The event is presented by Sikich, a professional services firm offering consulting, technology, accounting, and cybersecurity solutions to businesses and organizations worldwide.

The Chamber ALX also teased another upcoming announcement, saying the organization’s “40 Over 40” honorees will be revealed later this month.

For many recipients, the recognition represents more than a professional milestone. Previous coverage of the awards has emphasized the Chamber’s effort to celebrate individuals whose work is already influencing the future direction of Alexandria — often well before they reach traditional executive leadership stages.

As Alexandria continues evolving economically and culturally, the annual list has increasingly become a snapshot of the city’s emerging leadership pipeline — the people likely to guide local institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations in the years ahead.
