Nominations to Alexandria’s Green Building Task Force Due Oct. 1

ALEXANDRIA, VA–The City of Alexandria is seeking nominations for the Green Building Policy Update Task Force (‘Task Force’) established by City Council on September 11th through Resolution 2841. The Task Force will provide feedback and guidance to City staff on the policy update relative to their area of expertise, as well as support the City’s community engagement outreach efforts and meeting activities. It is anticipated that the first meeting of the Task Force will be held the week of October 29 with four meetings occurring between October 2018-May 2019. The City Council will review the policy update at its June 2019 public hearing.

Nominations are being solicited in the following areas of expertise:

  • Environmental Advocates or Technical Experts
    • third-party green building certification organizations
    • affordable housing developer representative
    • environmental group
    • architect with LEED certification
    • environmental consultant
  • Real Estate Development Industry
    • large-scale developers
    • residential home builders
    • land use attorney
    • development association

All nominees must complete and submit a brief online application form no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 1. Submissions received after this deadline will not be considered.  The online application form and further detail can be found at alexandriava.gov/GreenBuilding.
