Local nonprofit Levine Music is set to get a new location at the TideLock Development on North Fairfax Street.

Levine Music began over 40 years ago as a welcoming community to provide children and adults with the opportunity to “find lifelong inspiration and joy through learning, performing, listening to and participating with others in music,” as reads their Mission Statement. This mission makes it the perfect occupant of the new assorted TideLock property.

The property, being built at the site of TransPotomac Plaza, will include 5000 sf. of rent-free space for arts to use and approximately 6500 sf. of retail space,169 rental apartment homes, 65 luxury condominiums, and a number of affordable apartments to qualified candidates.

According to Grant Epstein, President, Community Three, “The entire project will focus on sustainability by repurposing obsolete office buildings that qualify for the LEED Silver rating.”

CEO and President of Levine Music, Jeff Tribble, a native of South Side Chicago, was introduced to music at an early age by his mother, a classically trained pianist and his father, a jazz musician. Jeff remembers banging away on paint cans by age three and performing with his church choir by age seven.

Tribble plays drums for children in his former South Africa organization, The MusicianShip Sister Cities Program.

Tribble began undergraduate studies at Howard University in 2004 and stayed in the area to attend George Washington University Law School. In his second year of law school, he founded the first of several not-for-profit organizations designed to enrich and empower children and adolescents through exposure to the arts. That effort carried into what Tribble has made of Levine Music and its several locations throughout the DMV today.

TideLock and Levine Music hope to open doors in late 2024. Tribble says that during and after construction, “We are committed to collaborating and cooperating with the community to maximize public engagement with the Levine Music.” You may soon hear the lovely melodies of Levine Music concerts in Montgomery Park.
