Alexandria, VA – Earlier today Gov. Ralph S. Northam (D-VA) announced Phase Two of his “Forward Virginia” plan. Most of Virginia, except for Northern Virginia and Richmond, will transition to the next phase on Friday, June 5.

This region will remain in the first phase to help officials monitor health data.

Phase Two maintains the Safer at Home policy of Phase One. It also keeps social distancing in place and requires Virginians to wear a face mask in indoor public settings. Exceptions are not stated in Executive Order 65.

Differences in Phase Two include an increase of people (50 total) at public gatherings, the reopening of outdoor venues, and exercise facilities may reopen if certain conditions are met.

So Alexandria residents can look forward to the eventual return of these activities and others. But because of the affect the virus has had on this area, precaution is necessary.

Residents are asked, in a city press release, to continue following the “Six Steps to Stop the Spread.” The informational flyer can be found HERE.
