Here’s the Deal: Here’s Some Discounts in Alexandria on Veterans Day

Deals, discounts and more for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families in Alexandria.

Alexandria, VA – The quality of life in Alexandria, and anywhere in the country, can largely be attributed to the dedication of the members of the U.S. armed forces. In recognition of Veterans Day on Monday Nov. 11, there are a lot of discounts and deals in the Port City for you or your loved ones who have served in the military.

The City will hold the 18th annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 11, from 1-3 p.m. at Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Ave.

Schools will be closed, the City will be open 

While Alexandria City Public Schools will be closed in observance of Veterans Day, the city government, libraries, and community centers will be open. Additionally, parking enforcement restrictions will be eased, as will driving on high occupancy vehicle lanes.

The Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, and the DMV Office on 2681 Mill Rd. will all be closed.

Deals and Discounts in Alexandria 

Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, at 134 North Royal Street, is offering free tours in honor of veterans on Sunday, Nov. 10 for all guests from 1-4 p.m. The American Legion Post #24 bought the buildings that make up the museum in 1929, as a memorial to the American lives lost in World War I. The buildings, which are still used as meeting space for the American Legion, were donated to the city in 1972.

Glory Days Grill, which usually offers a 25 percent discount to all uniformed members of the military, has a special offer on Veterans Day – free appetizers and wings for anyone with a valid military identification!

Aldo’s Italian Kitchen, 2850 Eisenhower Ave., is offering a 10 percent discount for active duty members of the military and veterans.
