Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza Eyes Alexandria Debut at 700 Slaters Lane

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria residents are in for a delicious surprise: the acclaimed Pupatella Neapolitan Pizza is gearing up for its first Alexandria location at 700 Slaters Lane, situated in Old Town North.
Established in 2007 by Naples native Enzo Algarme, Pupatella began as a humble food truck in Ballston, born out of Algarme’s frustration with the scarcity of authentic Neapolitan pizza in the area. In 2010, he opened the first brick-and-mortar spot in Arlington—combining traditional techniques with modern convenience—and quickly built a devoted fan base
A Location Two Years in the Making
Zebra reported paperwork was filed with the City of Alexandria in 2023, and construction at the former dry cleaner on Slaters Lane experienced delays. Updated progress shows that garage doors have recently been installed, signaling that the opening is now around the corner.
What Makes Pupatella Stand Out
Pupatella has garnered acclaim for its VPN-certified Neapolitan pizzas, which adhere strictly to Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana standards. Expect blistered, wood-fired pies topped with premium imported ingredients—think San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella di bufala.
The menu goes beyond pizzas with offerings such as:
-
Antipasti like burrata, arancini, and meatballs
-
Calzones, crisp salads, and rotating desserts
-
A rotating roster of creative toppings that reflect its Italian heritage and culinary innovation Alexandria Living Magazine
What’s Next and What to Expect
With construction now visibly advancing—garage doors in place and finishing touches underway—Pupatella appears poised to open in the coming weeks. Locals and fans of fine pizza should begin watching for an official opening announcement soon.
