Polk and Ramsay Students Invited to Pick a Free Book Next Week

ALEXANDRIA, VA – It’s always exciting to get a new book. Students from James K. Polk Elementary School and William Ramsay Elementary School are invited to a book giveaway on Monday, August 17 and Wednesday, August 19. Both days of the event take place from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at 5700 Sanger Avenue.

This pick-up event is a a promotion of the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) program.

RIF, according to the organization’s website, “believes every child deserves an opportunity to own books, learn how to read, and obtain the fundamental building blocks to achieve their highest potential.”

RIF spreads awareness of the importance of child literacy, helps to create programs that encourage literacy, and engages with people and businesses in communities to make a difference locally.

Before selecting a book, children will be given a mask and gloves for their well-being. Parking may be limited.
