ALEXANDRIA, VA-Patrick “Pat” Malone, of Alexandria, Virginia, retired Air Force veteran, and ‘major league’ cancer survivor, will host his tenth annual fundraiser to benefit Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a nationally recognized program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) to raise money for national and international cancer research to eliminate the disease, beginning at 4:26 pm, Saturday, February 10, and ending at 4:26 pm, Super Bowl Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Fire Works American Pizzeria & Bar (www.fireworkspizza.com/arlington), in Arlington, Virginia. Successful in his previous nine fundraisers, this will be Malone’s tenth attempt to try to ‘stand up’ to cancer for 24 hours, non-stop, at Fire Works in Arlington.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2014, Malone had successful surgery to remove a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST) (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24511012), at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland, whose operation was headed by Dr. Walter Faillace, a highly-skilled neurosurgeon, who for seven consecutive hours led a team of surgeons and specialists through the delicate procedure.

After months of radiation, rehabilitation and physical therapy in the spring and summer of 2014, Malone is currently cancer-free with the strong desire to both raise money for cancer research, and to additionally honor and highlight the dedicated hard work of his military and civilian medical team at the John P. Murtha Cancer Center (https://walterreed.tricare.mil/Health-Services/Specialty-Care/Murtha-Cancer-Center/About-Murtha-Cancer-Center) at Walter Reed, and the Radiation Oncology Clinic at the Alexander T. Augusta Medical Center located on Fort Belvoir, Virginia (https://belvoirhospital.tricare.mil/Health-Services/Specialty-Care/Radiation-Oncology).

People can donate money, both in person at Fire Works with checks made out to ‘Stand Up To Cancer’, and also through Pat’s ‘Stand Up To Cancer donation page*:
