ALEXANDRIA, VA-The City of Alexandria will offer a modified after-school program for young students during the 2021-2022 school year. This year’s Out of School Time Program (OSTP) is for kindergartners through fifth graders. It is scheduled to start on August 23, 2021 and end June 10, 2022.
It will take place from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at the following locations:
- Lee Center Registration and Reservation Office, 1108 Jefferson St., 703-746-5414
- Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe St., 703-746-5552
- Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Ave., 703-746-5556
- Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center, 25 West Reed Ave., 703-746-5554
- Patrick Henry Recreation Center, 4653 Taney Ave., 703-746-5557
- William Ramsay Recreation Center, 6560 Sanger Ave., 703-746-5558
Safety
To ensure the safety of participants and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the program will follow all federal, state, and local guidelines. Additionally, there is limited capacity at this time.
Cost
Program cost varies. Full price is $575 for the entire school year. With documentation of free or reduced-price school meals, it is $295. For families who are part of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, it is $245. It is $145 for those who receive benefits as part of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.
Pre-Registration
Pre-registration will be available to residents who qualify for financial assistance. Associated forms will be online June 14.

All forms must be submitted by Saturday, June 19. The information provided will help determine eligibility. A random computer lottery will determine who is selected or placed on a waitlist. Those chosen to participate will be contacted starting June 22 and must complete the enrollment process by June 28.
