 Saturday, November 20 – Family Volunteer Day, hosted by Volunteer Alexandria, invites all families to participate in activities that include creating gift tags for presents, decorating envelopes for gift cards, writing thank you cards, and creating a kindness wreath, which will be given to a homebound senior. Register HERE to participate from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and click HERE to sign up for 11:00 -12:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving Meal Delivery to Students – Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) needs drivers from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. to distribute meals to families with children enrolled in ACPS. Meals will be picked up from Alexandria City High School and delivered to school children throughout the city. Click HERE to sign up for 11/22 and click HERE for 11/24.

Thursday, Dec. 2, between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Toy Drive volunteers are needed to pick-up last minute toys and books from participating places. Volunteers must have their own insured vehicle and be able to make pick-ups and drop offs by 2 p.m. Register HERE. More details about the drive can be viewed at www.volunteeralexandria.org/toydrive.

Thursday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m. – 12p.m. – Sort toys and books. Volunteers needed to assist with Annual Toy Drive, hosted by Volunteer Alexandria. Volunteers, 6 and older, are needed to help sort, count and pre-bag items for families to pick up the following week. Register HERE.

Friday, December 31: New Year’s Eve with First Night Alexandria – First Night Alexandria is seeking volunteers for locations throughout Old Town for daytime or evening activities. They need greeters, ushers, volunteers to post on social media, check in guests, set up for events and break down, among other duties. Click HERE to express interest.

Robotics Club Coach – The Robotics Club at the Watergate at Landmark is seeking a coach and mentor to help with coding, engineering, and teaching core values and researching. The club meets one day every week for around three hours and have traditionally met on Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. but are flexible with the day. Click HERE to express interest.

COVID Related Needs:

Deliver Meals to ACPS School Children – Senior Services of Alexandria is looking for volunteers to support school lunch delivery to families who have children learning virtually this fall. Volunteers are needed to pick up and deliver meals on Mondays and Wednesdays. Car and valid driver’s license required. Click HERE to express interest.

Get Oriented with Emergency Preparedness – Join Volunteer Alexandria on Thursday, November 18 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in a virtual session to learn about Emergency Preparedness volunteer opportunities and our Volunteer Reception Center, which is activated in a disaster. Click HERE to sign-up.
