Kathleen McNutt is Bishop Ireton High School’s New Head of School

McNutt is a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and mother to three Bishop Ireton alumni and two current students.

Alexandria, VA – Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of Arlington, has appointed  Kathleen McNutt as the new Head of School for Bishop Ireton High School, effective July 1, 2019.

“I am very pleased to appoint Kathleen McNutt as Head of School at Bishop Ireton High School,” said Bishop Burbidge. “I look forward to collaborating with Kathleen in the next chapter of Bishop Ireton’s outstanding history.”

“I am excited to accept my new position as Head of School,” said McNutt. “I look forward to working with the Board of Governors, faculty, staff, parents, and students as we dedicate ourselves to excellence through a Christ-centered community immersed in the Salesian tradition. I am blessed by the opportunity to lead this outstanding academic institution into the future.”

Mrs. McNutt is a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and mother to three Bishop Ireton alumni and two current students. Her husband, Geoff, is a member of the Class of 1987 from Bishop Ireton as well. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from James Madison University. She also earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Marymount University. Mrs. McNutt has taught in public and private schools in Northern Virginia, and began teaching at St. Louis School in 2009. Mrs. McNutt was named Assistant Principal at St. Louis School in 2013 and was named Principal in 2014. She has spearheaded multiple construction projects at St. Louis School, including the preschool project in 2011-2012 and the media center project in 2015-2016. In addition to teaching, she has worked for The New Teacher Project, screening applicants for their inner-city teaching grant program. She was named to the Bishop Ireton Board of Governors in 2018, and she is currently the Vice President of the Arlington diocesan Principals’ Association.

 

Mary Wadland

Mary Wadland is the Publisher and Editor in Chief of The Zebra Press, founded by her in 2010. Originally from Delray Beach, Florida, Mary is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hollins College in Roanoke, VA and has lived and worked in the Alexandria publishing community since 1987.
