Alexandria, VA – On Dec. 29, 2021, Sean Casey was sworn in as Alexandria Sheriff. Due to rising Covid-19 concerns, Casey’s formal induction was canceled, so Clerk of Circuit Court Greg Parks joined Casey and his family in their front yard for a private ceremony.

Sheriff Casey’s new role follows the retirement of his predecessor, Dana Lawhorne, who filled the position for 16 years. Casey’s term began Jan. 1, 2022. He has already fulfilled several acts of service to his community, including delivering Meals on Wheels with City Council members and Sen. Mark Warner for the MLK Day of Service.
