Spring2ACTion Raises $2.9M for Nonprofits on Alexandria Giving Day

ALEXANDRIA, VA-Alexandria is a community of givers. That shows each year during the Spring2ACTion fundraising event. The online fundraiser takes place over a 24-hour period, called Alexandria Giving Day, and supports local nonprofits. For the second year in a row, ACT for Alexandria surpassed its $2.5 million goal, raising $2.9 million yesterday (April 24).

In all, 7,325 donors, 188 nonprofits, 67 businesses, and 33 sponsors participated. The top three recipients are: Move2Learn with  $152,086, Carpenter’s Shelter with $150,214, and Casa Chirilagua $89,610.

According to the ACT for Alexandria website, Spring2ACTion’s vision “is a community where everyone contributes to our nonprofit organizations.”

It has three goals:  grow philanthropy, grow revenie, and grow supporters.
