ALEXANDRIA, VA – In early July, ALIVE! welcomed its new executive board for FY 2024. The 15-member board will be led by new president, Rolf Blank. He served previously as vice president and has been a dedicated volunteer with the nonprofit for years.
““For more than 20 years I’ve been amazed how ALIVE! works collaboratively with congregations of all faiths to support the community,” Blank said. “I am excited to be stepping into the role of board President and look forward to the year ahead.”
Blank is succeeding Mary Eileen Dixon, who during her time as president, oversaw the opening of ALIVE’s two Food Hubs and led ALIVE! through the pandemic. With ALIVE! closed during much of that time, she took charge to ensure that the people who depended on ALIVE! received the help they needed as it adapted.
The Food Hubs, in addition, have improved ALIVE!’s ability to give food and resources to residents in need.
“It has been an honor to lead ALIVE! during this eventful period. Its ability to stretch and grow to meet new demands has been awesome,” Dixon said. “I am confident that its committed staff and volunteer corps will continue to find new and better ways to help improve the lives of our struggling neighbors.”
Regarding Dixon, Executive Director Jennifer Ayers said she is “deeply appreciative” of her service the last two years.
“Mary Eileen’s hands-on guidance as we continued through a pandemic and shifted the organization’s efforts to respond to community needs has been paramount,” she said, adding, “We look forward to Rolf continuing the tradition of community led service.”
