ALEXANDRIA, VA-Alexandria Celebrates Women (ACW) will welcome Alexandria’s Mayor-Elect Alyia Gaskins to its December Salon event on Friday, Dec. 13. Gaskins, who made history as this city’s first Black female mayor, is scheduled to participate in what is described in the email announcement as “an informal setting designed to spark conversation and collaboration.”

Taking place in Old Town North at 99 Canal Center, the event will be moderated by former Visit Alexandria President and CEO Patricia Washington. Free to attend, it begins at 6:30 p.m. The discussion runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required. To sign up, click HERE.

“We are so thrilled that one of Alyia Gaskins’s first events as mayor-elect will be this conversation with Alexandria women,” said ACW’s president Pat Miller. “The goal of our Salon series is to spotlight incredible women in Alexandria, and to have an opportunity get to know them as a person — and not just focus on what they do.”

ACW is a nonprofit founded to recognize the accomplishments of Alexandria’s women and the contributions they make to the city.
