Alexandria Artists Can Apply Now for the City’s Annual Grant Program

Webinars are scheduled to help with the application process. Deadline is March 28

ALEXANDRIA, VA-The City of Alexandria is now accepting applications for Annual Arts Program Grant. The Office of the Arts heads the grant program with assistance from of a task force consisting of arts professionals.

An Alexandria eNews bulletin announcement says, “For more than 30 years, the City of Alexandria has provided arts grants to local arts organizations, artists, and service providers, ensuring residents have access to quality arts experiences.”

Funding received depends on budget. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to review the application and guidelines. The application can be found HERE, and the FAQ with guidelines is HERE.  The deadline is March 28 at 5 p.m. Mailed or personally delivered applications will not be accepted.

The goals of the program, according to the city’s website, are:

  • To strengthen Alexandria’s creative capacity by providing its residents with diverse opportunities to meaningfully engage with the arts.
  • To improve the capacity and stability of Alexandria-based organizations to create, perform, and present works of artistic excellence and innovation through organizational support and program funding; and
  • To create a vibrant urban environment by supporting diverse individual artists, organizations, and other entities in the creation, performance, and presentation of high-quality works of art across the City of Alexandria.

The Office of the Arts is hosting free webinars to help applicants prepare their applications. Attendance is a must for people applying for the first time or who are unfamiliar with the Foundant online program. Those who have applied previously are also encouraged to take part in the webinar to learn important updates.

The webinars are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, February 6, 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, February 11, 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 13, 2 p.m.
  • Thursday, February 20, 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday, February 25, 4 p.m.
