Prime Video’s Scarpetta Set in Alexandria, Filmed in Nashville

Alexandria, VA – Viewers tuning into Scarpetta may expect to spot Old Town streets—but they won’t.
The new Prime Video series, starring Nicole Kidman and based on novels by Patricia Cornwell, is set in Alexandria but filmed primarily in Nashville, Tennessee.
Production took place in several Nashville neighborhoods, with some scenes standing in for Virginia government buildings shot at the Tennessee State Capitol.
Why the switch? Film industry economics often drive location decisions. Tennessee offers financial incentives, and Nashville has become a major production hub with experienced crews and infrastructure. Plus Kidman has a house nearby.
Still, Alexandria plays a starring role in name.
While the scenery may belong to Tennessee, the city will be front and center throughout the series—bringing Alexandria into living rooms across the country.
