Book Party Alert! NPR’s Allison Aubrey Celebrates Midlife Possibilities in New Book, “Your Turn”
Award-Winning Journalist Writes A New Roadmap for Women Seeking Purpose, Joy, and Reinvention

ALEXANDRIA, VA — For many women, midlife can feel a little uncertain. After the hustle of building a career or the demands of raising a family, when those pressures begin to ease, the question of “So now what?” can loom large.
A woman in her own third act, Allison Aubrey addresses this very topic in her new book, Your Turn: How to Create a Midlife You Love.
An Acclaimed Voice on Health and Aging
Aubrey is an award-winning science and health correspondent for NPR News, a contributor to CBS Sunday Morning, and now an author. Her reporting regularly appears on Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and she is the creator of NPR’s How to Thrive as You Age project.
Throughout her career, Aubrey has earned numerous honors, including two James Beard Awards, a National Press Club Award for consumer reporting, and a New York Press Club Award for excellence in journalism.
A Celebration Before the Official Launch
Readers will have an opportunity to be among the first to support the book during a special pre-launch event being held in Aubrey’s honor on Friday, June 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Evening Star Cafe, No. 9 Lounge, located at 200 Mount Vernon Avenue in Alexandria.
Hosted by Alexandria residents Tara Casagrande and Laura Jackson, the evening will include a champagne toast, light bites, dessert, a Q&A with Aubrey, and a playful “review booth” where guests can share their thoughts and take photos.
Each $30 ticket includes a pre-ordered copy of Your Turn, which will be available for pickup following the book’s official release.
Finding Purpose in the Third Turn
While the book is geared toward helping women answer questions such as “Who am I now?” and “Where do I go from here?” its message extends far beyond midlife.
Drawing on science, personal experience, and the stories of women who have successfully reinvented themselves, Aubrey presents a roadmap for embracing new opportunities, rediscovering passions, and creating a meaningful next chapter.
An Evening of Community and Conversation
Whether attendees are navigating a major life transition or simply looking for inspiration, the book event promises thoughtful conversation, community, and a literal toast to the possibilities that lie ahead.
In a culture that often youth obsessed, Aubrey’s message is refreshingly different: some of life’s most fulfilling chapters are still be waiting to be written.
