Alexandria, VA – Costumes, sneakers and community spirit will take over Alexandria on Sunday, Sept. 27, when the 19th annual RUN! GEEK! RUN! 5K returns at 8:30 a.m.
The always-fun race begins between George Washington Middle School and the Braddock Road Metro station. Runners, walkers and teams of all skill levels are welcome to join the flat neighborhood course, while volunteers can help with water stations, course support and the finish line.
Each year, RUN! GEEK! RUN! benefits a different Alexandria nonprofit. This year’s beneficiary is the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, which helps academically qualified ACPS students with financial need access and complete college, technical or career education. The organization awards more than 200 scholarships annually and renews scholarships for up to four years.
Participants without teams can run with “Team Eugene,” named for the event’s beloved geeky mascot, and compete for community team honors. Registration, volunteer information and sponsorship opportunities are available at rungeekrun.org.
