ALEXANDRIA, VA – Amid the pandemic, drive-in theaters have made a comeback. And drive-in movies will return to Alexandria just in time for Halloween, bringing family, friends, and average moviegoers together safely. Think of it as a socially distant way to enjoy classic films – under the stars.

The Alexandria Drive-In Theatre, presented by ALX Community and The Garden, will kick off its’ Encore Series on October 31, 2020. The series will run through December 5 and feature a collection of popular movie classics and family favorites.

“Alexandria Drive-In started as a dream to help raise funds for locally loved nonprofits and to offer friends and neighbors safe family entertainment. Our entire (all-volunteer) crew was so amazed at the community response and continuing desire for the drive-in, it was a unanimous decision to find a way to continue with a second series” said Kelly Grant, Chief Operating Officer for ALX Community.

The drive-in will be located at 5001 Eisenhower Ave., in the parking lot connected to commercial space owned by real estate developer and event partner, Stonebridge. The lot can comfortably accommodate up to 215 cars per screening. To help support food truck vendors who have been hit hard by the pandemic, event organizers have partnered with Goodfynd, They will be onsite with a rotating selection of sweet and savory local food truck cuisine, including DC SlicesChix N StixLattimore’s Funnel Cakes, and Popped Republic. Food can be ordered right from your mobile phone or you can also bring your own food.
