Guests of Alexandria West will learn how Rotary’s “People of Action” creates lasting change in our local community as well as globally through service projects, fundraising and putting Service Above Self.  Guests will learn about Rotary International’s Polio Plus initiative which has reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide. AWRC will be collecting donations for Polio Plus at this event.

AWRC supports the local Alexandria Community by providing dictionaries and reading books to 3rd and 4th graders at James Polk, Samuel Tucker, John Adams and Patrick Henry Elementary Schools.

Additionally, AWRC participates in the Cameron Station neighborhood “Operation Gobble Gobble” to provide Thanksgiving dinners and buys and distribute gifts to needy families of Tucker Elementary School students during the holidays.

Near and dear AWRC’s heart, is their partnership with the Alexandria Masters Swim to raise money for metastatic breast cancer.

Those interested in learning more about Rotary are welcome to attend AWRC weekly meetings (Monday’s at 6:30pm) at Brandywine Living 5550 Cardinal Place Alexandria at 5550 Cardinal Place Alexandria, VA 22304. Check out the Alexandria West Rotary Club website for more details.
