ALEXANDRIA, VA – Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap in Del Ray continues to find exciting, innovative, and safe ways to serve their customers. On Dec. 16, they opened The Loft at Lena’s – Winter Lodge., an Aspen-inspired experience.

The 4,500-square-foot space at 401 E. Braddock Road allows for guests to enjoy dining while social distancing. The idea was driven by the need to keep people warm during the winter months and the popularity of Lena’s Oasis and Lena’s Beer Garden. There are floor-to-ceiling windows with wide views that are meant to give visitors the feeling of being out West.

To design The Loft, the Yates family once again partnered with REVOLUTION and Christine Godsey of CG&CO Events.

“The Loft at Lena’s became some winter escape that existed in my mind. Experiential in nature, I wanted guests to be transported out of everyday life and into a world that was beautiful and far less serious than ours,” said Katie Kirby, Creative Director of REVOLUTION. “Our hope was to create an environment where everyone who visits can enjoy a fun and safe night out, and I think we met and exceeded that expectation.”

The menu and bar offer Lena’s favorites as well as some new additions. Special menu items include slow cooked pork belly, lobster carbonara, and affogato. Holiday-themed beverages include mulled wine, a peppermint bark cocktail, and a honey-lemon toddy.

The Yates family is deeply committed to safe dining. They have met and exceeded CDC guidelines and Lena’s is a member of ALX Promise. New fans were installed in The Loft that kill 99.99 percent of airborne pathogens, including the coronavirus. The space also has open air windows to let in fresh air, and HVAC equipment has been programmed to bring additional fresh air in from outside, as opposed to only recirculating the air within the space.

The Yates, in a statement, expressed their excitement over the opening and hinted at future plans.

“There is more to come,” the statement reads. “The Winter Lodge is only the first of several future themes that will transform the space at The Loft at Lena’s.”
