Alexandria Turkey Trot Is Back!
Alexandria, VA – A holiday tradition, the 46th annual Alexandria Turkey Trot ̶ the Mid-Atlantic’s premiere Turkey Trot ̶ returns to the streets of Del Ray on Thanksgiving morning.
The five-mile run/walk takes place at 9 am on Thanksgiving Day (November 25) and goes through the heart of Del Ray, starting and ending at George Washington Middle School. The Turkey Trot is Metro accessible via the Braddock Road Metro Station. Dogs and strollers are welcome and have their own starting area.
“I stick around town Thanksgiving morning to run the Alexandria Turkey Trot because it’s one of the best races I’ve come across, in terms of course and race management, competition level, community support, and general atmosphere,” said elite runner Charlie Ban. “Doing strides before the race and staring down the thousands of people on Mount Vernon Avenue thrills me every year.”
In the spirit of the holiday, runners and spectators are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to support ALIVE!, the oldest and largest private safety net in the City of Alexandria dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger.
