Opening Today: Alexandria’s Art League Features Paintings of Edward Ugo
More events planned for this month. Ceramics sale Thanksgiving Weekend
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Art League always hosts entertaining exhibitions. In fact, there is a new one opening today. Called “The Shape of Happiness,” it focuses on the work of Edward Ugo.
In his geometric paintings, lines intersect and colors come alive. His work amazes the eyes.
Ugo considers each piece a reflection of his feelings; he found comfort while working on them during the pandemic. When painting, the artist says he is “at peace with the world around me.”
The exhibition will be on view through Dec. 5. All are welcome to join an artist talk online Monday, Nov. 15 from 6-7 p.m. RSVP HERE.
The Art League’s November Opening Reception is this afternoon from 4:30-6 p.m. RSVP HERE.
Also opening this month:
IMPart Special Exhibit, featuring ceramics and bladesmithing works created by area veterans at The Art League. The IMPart program connects recent Injured Military Personnel with visual arts experiences created for personal enrichment, relaxed social engagement, the improvement and redevelopment of fine motor skills, and expressive catharsis.
One day each week, veterans are welcomed at our Madison Annex facility and offered individualized instruction and creative attention. (Those interested in joining should contact [email protected])
November 2021 Open Exhibit, a member show featuring 106 artworks in various media, including painting, sculpture, and photography.
