ALEXANDRIA, VA – Dancing like a robot is one thing, but can you build one? The T.C. Williams Robotics Team just placed 8th out of 35 regional teams at the FIRST Chesapeake District Bethesda Event at Walt Whitman High School on March 8-10. The team also went home as the winners of the Engineering Inspiration Award for their work holding robotics workshops with kids and promoting STEM awareness in Alexandria.

“The team is off to an impressive start along their mission of offering a FIRST team in every school in Alexandria and has no intention of stopping their rapid growth,” said Titans Robitics spokesperson Erin Schiefelbein. “The team’s robot, ‘Guilloutina’  – lovingly named after two of their mentors, Lou and Tina, performed wonderfully on the field, a testament to Titan Robotics’ build quality and programming prowess. The drive team did a remarkable job keeping their robot in top shape and always ready for every match even despite a tight schedule and quick turnaround times.”

The team, which was founded in 2015 and is comprised of 70 T.C. Williams High School students, participated in more than 30 community outreach events this school year alone.

Titan Robotics next competes on March 23-24 at Oxon Hill High School, where they will again go up against 35 regional high school teams. If the team does well, they could also qualify for the Chesapeake District Championship at George Mason University from April 10-13.

Good Luck Titans!
