Volunteers Train to Lead During a Disaster

Fire Chief Sorey Smedley

Alexandria, VA – On May 23, members of the Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) graduated from an 11-month-long program. The Office of Emergency can activate a VRC to help with recovery efforts after a disaster takes place. These graduates are volunteer leaders who will support VolALX as needed. A new program starts on June 21. To learn more and to volunteer, go to volunteeralexandria.org, click on Volunteers at the top of the screen, and scroll down to Find An Opportunity.
