ALEXANDRIA, VA-On Saturday, Aug. 3, Alexandria native Christian Tabash won bronze as a member of US men’s eight crew in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 regatta. Great Britain won the race (5:22.88) at Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium with the Netherlands finishing second (5:23.92). According to USRowing.com, the Americans cut nearly a second from the Dutch team’s time in the last 500 meters, but the Netherlands eight overcame the challenge.
“We had a good start,” Tabash told US Rowing. “We were aggressive. I think there was a strong tailwind, which compresses a lot of margins, and I think that one of our strengths is our ability to change speeds.”
The US time was 5:25.28. Tabash’s teammates are Rielly Milne, Pieter Quinton, Evan Olson, Peter Chatain, Chris Carlson, Clark Dean, Nick Rusher, and Henry Hollingsworth.
For the American men, the race marked the first time since 2008 they medaled in the event. This is the 17th time in Olympic history they medaled in the event.
