Crystal City Pentagon Rotary Club Celebrates Friendship and Philanthropy at Annual Gala
ALEXANDRIA, VA-On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Crystal City Pentagon Rotary Club hosted its First Annual Giving Gala, at Jula’s on the Potomac. The event brought together 39 dedicated Rotarians and friends for an evening of generosity and fellowship.
This inaugural event marked a significant milestone in the club’s commitment to community service and charitable giving to fund scholarships.
The event’s moderator, Matt Leavitt, a past president, welcomed guests to the venue while the band played jazz as the sun set on the Potomac.
Longtime Rotarian Dr Neal Davidson gave the keynote speech, sharing powerful stories of Rotarian impact, highlighting Rotary’s focus and spreading much laughter and cheer. The audience was inspired by tales of resilience, compassion, and transformation.
Thanks to a silent auction of delectable gourmet baskets, the gala surpassed its fundraising goal and raised vital funds for local and international projects. supporting scholarships high schoolers. The club’s dedication to addressing pressing global issues was evident throughout the evening.Rotary’s mission of service above self was also highlighted.
“Tonight, we are honored by your support and celebrate our collective efforts and reaffirm our commitment to creating lasting change by supporting education, which is the foundation of everything else,”said Dr. Marina Theodotou, Club President.
The event honored two students who benefited from the club’s scholarship program and recognized all guests, Rotarians and friends. The contributions of these people made the evening a success. Rotarians Steve Leisge, Stefan Tisma, Sue Sheats, Marta Pentasugglia, Alejandra Underwood, Maria Kuecken, and Matt Leavitt were especially instrumental in making the gala a night to remember.
