ALEXANDRIA, VA-The Old Town Walled Garden Club is hosting its annual outdoor decorating contest this holiday season. The contest is in its 55th year. Judging takes place Dec. 11, and the club’s members will pick the winners.  There were multiple winners in different categories last year.

Rules for decorating require – except for bows and ribbons – that all decorations are made of natural materials. For residential entries, every decoration displayed must be made by the homeowners. No professionally-made decorations are allowed. For commercial entries, decorations can be made by a professional but must consist of natural materials.

Judging will be based on originality of design, scale, color, contrast, and attractiveness from the street. First, second, and third place winners in the residential contest will receive gift certificates from local restaurants or businesses.

Interested in participating? Send your name, address, email address, and phone number to [email protected]. Entry is free.
