Alexandria, VA – “The Cost of Aging: Mental, Physical, Financial, and Legal Perspectives”
Saturday, June 7 – 9 a.m. to Noon (registration at 8:30)
First Baptist Church, 2932 King Street
It is not too soon to start planning for getting older and making decisions about how you will age. Will you stay in your home or move? Do you have your essential documents in place, including a will and power of attorney? Are your finances in order to cover the cost of aging? It is a lot to think about and can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.
Senior Law Day, an annual event sponsored by Senior Services of Alexandria and the Alexandria Bar Association, will provide common sense information and resources that can make decision-making on how you plan to age a little easier.
This year’s program includes estate planners, financial experts, and senior resource specialists with information on the cost of healthcare and housing; and knowing what legal documents should be in place. There will also be a session on the challenge of caregiving and what resources are available for Veterans.
The morning is structured into three panels: Strategies for Caregiving with Dignity and Support; Navigating Finances for Older Adults and Essential Documents for Aging Well. Throughout the morning attendees can visit with local caregiving companies, local attorneys, and city organizations and departments that support older adults. Senior Law Day is free and open to the public.
Please register by emailing events@seniorservicesalex.org or call 703-836-4414, ext. 110.
