New Opportunities

Help Dogs Get Adopted in Alexandria — Lucky Dog Animal Rescue
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is holding an adoption event on Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31. Volunteers are needed to hold leashes and talk with potential adopters. (Ages 7+ with an adult)

Design Websites for the Arts
Calling those with web design experience and an eye for visuals! Bible Stories Theatre of Fine & Performing Arts is seeking volunteers to help update its website.

Raise Funds for the Arts
Volunteers with experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, or sponsorship development are needed by Bible Stories Theatre of Fine & Performing Arts.

Teach Dance Afterschool Lessons
The Momentum Collective is seeking a dance instructor for elementary and middle school students. All dance styles are welcome, with a particular interest in hip hop, steppin’, and/or tap.

Design Sets for Children’s Theater
The Momentum Collective manages a theater program for youth ages 8–16. Set designers will assist with construction, installation, and removal of set pieces and collaborate with production teams.

Direct a Children’s Choir
The Momentum Collective also offers an after-school arts program and is seeking a choir director to teach youth vocal fundamentals and guide them through multiple genres.

Opportunities Still Open

Velocity Bicycle Cooperative has openings for multiple skilled volunteer roles:

  • Coordinate Volunteers – Participate in Velocity activities and support volunteer engagement

  • Manage Programs – Maintain a scholarship program and coordinate with partner organizations

  • Research and Write Grants – Use research, writing, and communication skills to secure funding

  • Help Customers at a Bike Shop – Greet clients at Velocity’s Del Ray storefront

  • Coordinate Events – Help plan warehouse workdays, social gatherings, and more

Spruce Up an Organization’s Basement
Help clear and organize items at the Child & Family Network Center.

Teach Individuals How to Negotiate
Join Negotiation Works’ 2026 cohort and help marginalized community members learn how to resolve disputes and define priorities.

Assist with delivering boxes of food to families in need.
