Alexandria Launches VADeed Alert to Protect Property Owners from Fraud
Alexandria, VA – A new tool is giving property owners added protection against one of the fastest-growing real estate scams.
The free VADeed Alert system, launched by the Alexandria Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, notifies users whenever a document—such as a deed or mortgage—is recorded in their name.
The service is designed to help detect potential deed fraud, a crime in which scammers file fraudulent documents to transfer ownership or take out loans against a property.
Officials say the alert provides an early warning so property owners can quickly review and respond to suspicious activity. The system is free, easy to use, and available to all local property owners.
