Bike to Work Day 2026 in Alexandria | Pit Stops, Perks & Prizes
ALEXANDRIA, VA-Dust off that bicycle. Adjust your helmet and brakes. Bike to Work Day 2026 rolls into town on Friday, May 15. Thousands of commuters across the DMV are gearing up for the annual free bike fest, featuring over 100 pit stops in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
Cruise by any of six Alexandria pit stops and grab a free t-shirt, hot coffee, breakfast, and raffle prizes. Carlyle and Old Town host the most elaborate hubs, complete with stages featuring live DJs, free giveaways, and appearances by elected and civic leaders.
Bike to Work Day is also a springboard for commuters who have never biked to work before.
The day-long event is a joint project of The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), Commuter Connections, and Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA). It promotes a healthy lifestyle and reduces our area’s carbon footprint.
Register for Bike to Work Day at biketoworkmetrodc.org/register and get your free t-shirt. This year’s shirt color is heather purple. The Zebra will be covering several Alexandria pit stops, bringing you full coverage of the day’s events.
Great reminder for Alexandria riders. For anyone pulling a bike out for the first time in a while, give yourself a few days to check the tires, brakes, chain, and seat height. The ride is a lot more fun when the bike feels ready.
