Alexandria, VA – Alexandria Children’s Theatre (ACT) has released its class schedule for fall, and there’s something for everyone. For all the kids who are looking for acting, singing, or dancing – or all three! – check out this season’s offerings.

Young fans of ancient Greece can explore the origins of theatre by making masks, ceremonial pots, and dressing in togas during their class, It’s Greek to Me! Students who want to learn basic cheerleading skills combined with dance and some singing will love the new Cheer Mashup class… think High School Musical’s Wildcats!

ACT Artistic Director Roberta Cullen is excited to offer area students the opportunity to try their hand at traditional acting, singing, and dancing. They can explore the basics or branch out this fall at Saturday morning classes held at Burgundy Farm Country Day School, which is conveniently located just west of the King Street metro area.

Cullen says, “Our classes engage students as young as 4 years old, using stories and creative movement where students get to wear dress-up clothes, pretend, and use their imaginations together, while older age groups build creativity and self-expression skills, boosting their confidence. Acting and theatre are based on collaboration, so working together is a key part of what our instructors do, whether in Improv or our Act Out the Story classes. Everyone performs onstage in November, so families can see what their children have been learning.”

Alexandria Children’s Theatre offers a Drop In registration option ($25) so children can try out a class before registering for the whole session. ACT also offers a payment plan as well as a generous scholarship program through Noah’s Fund. Parents can relax for an hour on the beautiful Burgundy Farm campus while their children are having fun with ACT instructors.

As the new school year gets underway, keep in mind that Alexandria Children’s Theatre works with local schools to help fundraise each year. Interested PTA reps should email [email protected] for details.
