Alexandria Pet Mural Fundraiser Tops $7,000 as Grooming Spa’s Pet Pantry Takes Off
From Head to Tail Grooming Spa says donations and pickups are growing, while more pets can still join its Potomac Yard mural.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — The painted pets on From Head to Tail Grooming Spa’s wall are still doing good beyond the mural. Owner Jodi Goldberg told The Zebra on September 23 that the extended Pets of Potomac Yard fundraiser has raised more than $7,000 for Pawfectly Delicious Dog Treats.
There is another development inside the spa: its pet pantry is receiving many donations and seeing many pickups, Goldberg said. She did not provide a count of donations or visits, but said the pantry is taking off.
More room on the wall
Goldberg estimated that roughly 20 mural spots remained as of September 23. Artist Patrick Kirwin paints the pet portraits on the spa building at 430 Hume Avenue. The spa’s mural page says a portrait costs $257.50, including a donation to Pawfectly Delicious and credit card processing fees. Spaces are offered in small batches, so availability may change.
When The Zebra covered the mural in 2022, more than 100 local pets had already been painted. The news now is the fundraiser’s continued reach and the activity at the spa’s pet pantry.
