Friends of Hollin Hall Unite Alexandria Small Businesses to Strengthen Community
Alexandria, VA – The Friends of Hollin Hall is a new neighborhood business group bringing together several small businesses in and around the Hollin Hall Shopping Center in Alexandria. Several have opened their doors in recent years, and these entrepreneurs understand the strength and value of connecting with their community.
The group’s introductory post on Instagram read, “We’re busy planning events and finding new ways to bring the shopping center to life, celebrate small business, and connect with the neighbors who make this community special.”
Urban Redeux owner Willow Wright loves the energy at the shopping center with the arrival of the new merchants. She said, “We all understand the importance of community and working together to keep offering the best we have to the loyal customers who choose to shop here.”
Citing the value of collaboration and support of fellow local business owners, Alex Kilroy, owner of The Cut Butchery, said, “It’s not easy to start or maintain or buy or relocate a business to the shopping center. So we thought, why not support each other’s businesses and collaborate on ideas/events?”
Fabled Ice Cream is due to open in Hollin Hall in 2027. Owner Ally Kirkpatrick said, “I’m a big fan of the Old Town Boutique District and all they do for retailers in Old Town, and thought this was a natural next step to have a similar organization in Hollin Hall.”
Members of the Friends of Hollin Hall include Renée C. Gage Photography, The Cut Butchery, Athena Wellness, Fort Hunt Pilates, Hooray Art, The Barber Shop, Virginia Aesthetics, Fabled Ice Cream, Village Hardware, Hollin Hall Dry Cleaners, Nepenthe Gallery, Hollin Hall Pastry Shop, Urban Redeux, The Variety Store, Hollin Hall Animal Hospital, Roseinas, and Natures Nibbles.
The group’s first event featured trick-or-treating on Friday, October 30, when costumed revelers were invited to collect treats (no tricks!) at participating businesses.
