ALEXANDRIA, VA — The women of Alexandria Women for Good (AWfG) are proving once again that collective giving creates powerful local impact. During a festive Happy Hour at Josephine in Old Town Alexandria on Thursday, October 1, the group presented a check for $13,147 to Upcycle Creative Reuse Center, an Alexandria nonprofit dedicated to inspiring creativity, conservation, and community through creative reuse.

“This check represents more than a donation; it’s a commitment to building a more sustainable and inspired Alexandria,” said AWfG Co-founder Laura Turner. “Every quarter, our members choose a nonprofit to uplift. This quarter, we’re thrilled to support Upcycle’s vision for a greener future.”

Upcycle transforms discarded materials into art supplies and learning experiences for children and adults — a mission that combines environmental sustainability with artistic exploration.

Formed in 2021, Alexandria Women for Good is a local giving circle where members pool their donations to support area nonprofits. Past recipients include organizations such as Community Lodgings, Friends of Guest House, and ALIVE!.

Turner added that AWfG’s mission is not just financial support, but also awareness. “Each time we come together, we highlight an organization doing incredible work right here in our city. It’s about building community and creating lasting change.”

Through this latest gift, AWfG helps Upcycle continue providing accessible, eco-conscious programming that keeps reusable materials out of landfills and sparks imagination across Alexandria.
