Alexandria, VA – The National Weather Service has issued a severed thunderstorm warning for the northern Virginia area. The warning is in effect until 9 p.m.

“Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall,” according to NWS. “This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.”
