Volunteer This Summer with Meals on Wheels and Senior Services of Alexandria
SSA is looking for Summer Volunteers for Meals on Wheels, Groceries to Go, and AniMeals
Alexandria, VA – Senior Services of Alexandria (SSA) is looking for summer volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels, Groceries to Go, and AniMeals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels recipients receive a nutritious lunch and dinner every day of the week – 365 days a year! Meals on Wheels volunteers pick up the meals at Chinquapin Recreation Center with delivery directions. Volunteers pick up the meals at 9:45 a.m. with a time commitment of about 90 minutes. Volunteers receive “on-the-job” training and can sign up for days that fit their schedules.
AniMeals volunteers deliver pet food to lower-income clients once a month on the second Thursday of every month. Volunteers pick up the pet food and directions at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, a partner with SSA for this program. The time commitment is about an hour.
SSA volunteers are the eyes and ears of the organization. In addition to delivering nutritious meals, and food for their loved pets, volunteers can provide a friendly smile to older adults who may not see anyone else during their day.
